The Advantages of Waterproof Wall PanellingWall panelling has a whole host of advantages that will benefit both your client and you, as an installer.
|
Advantages for youTrade customers receive a discounted price list, and recommending waterproof wall panelling will bring you a number of benefits and provide you with many advantages over other forms of wall covering:
The panels can be delivered directly to your customer (with their permission) usually within in 3-4 working days, saving you the hassle of transporting them. As a relatively new market, there is less competition than with other, more established forms of wall covering, such as tiling. The ease of installation, coupled with the fact that panelling is still not a widely used product, means your customer can end up paying less for their refurbishment while you make extra profit. But it is when it comes to installation that panelling really comes into its own - as the following section below will highlight. |

When fitting over existing wall coverings, such as tiles, the thickness of the panels has to be taken into consideration and the walls have to be relatively flat (especially stone or artex) for direct fitting. Very uneven walls can be levelled with battens - the panels can then be stapled or stuck to the battens. If the wall has been Artexed and the pattern has resulted in high spots, they can be flattened with a hammer to produce a lower profile enabling the panels to be stuck directly to the surface - doing away with the need to remove the existing wall finish. If a bathroom has previously been half tiled (as in some older houses where the bathroom has cemented-on tiles as shown in the above image) it is possible to use two methods of attachment at once - stick the bottom half of the panels to the existing tiles and pack out the top half of the room with battens and staple or stick the top half of each panel. Panelling can be installed onto wallpapered surfaces, although it is best not to use the adhesive method of fixing this type of application or you will be relying on wallpaper paste holding everything up. Boxing-in pipework is easy with panelling, as is constructing a bath panel out of the material. Tiles require a second visit to apply the grouting - once panels have been fitted and sealed the job is finished. The panels can be scored on the back to enable them to bend around angles or slight curves - very handy in certain situations such as attics or dorma-style properties.
