Shower ScreensShower screens come in several different types. Their basic function is to keep the water from an overbath shower inside the bath.
There is now an alternative to the tradition shower screen - the Outasight. Most shower screens are made from toughened safety glass or some form of clear plastic and fall into two diferent basic designs: the single pane screen and the folding screen. Pivoting Shower ScreenThis type of shower screen is made from a single pane of toughened safety glass. They are available in patterened or frosted glass but ideally they should be completely clear. Although the majority of this type of screen pivot on the wall they do not fold back flat against the wall as the bath taps get in the way and so are left permanently running along the bath. This can make a small bathroom feel clautrophobic as they cut the available space in half (this is why the clear shower screen is the best one to choose). They offer quite a small showring area and are not ideal for use with a power shower. Folding Shower ScreenThis type of shower screen tends to offer a greater showring area and can usually be folded back against the wall, although ethey tend to be very bulky even when stowed. The frame tends to be quite thick making the whole thing quite obtrusive when stowed. An Outasight can be used in place of this type of shower screen with none of the drawbacks.
