Shower Curtain RailsThere are several different designs of shower curtain rail and all perform the same function: to hold up the shower curtain.
The Outasight is unique in that the shower curtain rail is contained within the pivoting arm. This means that when the unit is closed there is no rail cutting across the bathroom. It also means that there is no visible shower curtain - this can only be seen when the unit is opened and the curtain pulled out, as shown in the above image. Some shower curtain rails run in a straight line from wall to wall. These are quite strong as there are two secure fixings at either end, but they are permanently visible and shower curtain has to left at one end or the other. Some are a shower curtain pole design while others are rectangular in cross section with a track for the runners to move in. Many of this type of shower curtain pole are spring loaded enabling them to be fitted without any drilling or fixings - they are held in place by the spring action and friction. This type of rail is ideal if there are two suitably spaced walls but are impractical if the walls are more than two metres apart. In this situation an L shaped shower curtain rail is required. This type of rail runs along two sides of the bath and is attached to the walls at two points. Try and buy a rail that also has a centre support that attaches to the ceiling as without this they tend to be very flimsy and subject to sagging. Obviously an Outasight is an ideal alternative to this type of shower curtain rail as it is self supporting when extended. The Outasight has several advantages over both these types of rail
Sometimes, for example when a window is in the way, there is no alternative to an L shaped shower curtain rail but in most cases the Outasight is an ideal alternative. |
