shower wall claddingTo ensure a shower cubicle does not leak it is vital that the shower walls produce a perfect seal against the shower tray. The problem with most shower trays is that they slope inwards and tiles, being only a few millimetres thick, do not offer sufficient overhang to meet the tray surface. Trims are available to help bridge the gap between shower tray and shower wall but they tend to be quite obtrusive and do not always perform as well as they should.
Installing shower wall cladding in place of ceramic wall tiles can help as it tends to be a lot thicker than tiles and can be "built out" if required. It also helps to fill any gap between the wall and the tray with silicone sealant to ensure that if any cosmetic seal on the surface ever breaks, no water can get down the gap between tray and wall. Shower cladding is available in a range of sizes two different thicknesses and dozens of different colours and styles.
