Sliding Shower ScreenThis is a similar concept to the bi-fold shower screen but rather than a hinge between the two panels there is a sliding mechanism that enables the second screen to pull out for use. The folding shower screen does the same job as a 1 panel screen but extends further along the bath giving a greater shower area. The screen cannot usually be folded flat against the wall as the taps or shower controls will usually be in the way. When not in use a the shower screen is usually left retracted so that the screen is not fully extended, to try and limit the visible size. The Outasight concealed shower curtain system (shown above right) has several advantages over the this type of screen - the main one being size. The Outasight is very, very compact when not in use but offers a comparable or even larger showering area when open. There are 2 rubber or pvc strips at the bottom of each panel that form a seal with the top of the bath. The area at the bottom, where the two panels join can be a weak spot in terms of sealing - especially on cheap shower screens. |
