Shower ScreenWhile shower curtains are effective at overbath shower protection they are not exactly stylish and have waned in popularity as more and more people opt for some form of shower screen. There are several types of screen including:
While they are relatively attractive, they do have a few downsides. The clear, arched screens that are hinged on the wall are the least obtrusive, but they are also the least effective as they only tend to be about 800mm wide. With baths usually being 1700mm long that means they protect less than half the bath from deflected spray from the shower. This type of screen can be pivoted for cleaning but they do not fold back neatly against the wall, so they are basically a permanent feature.
The joints on 4 fold and 5 fold shower screens can be a weak point when it comes to leaks especially on cheaper models. Also the rubber seals at the bottom of the screen tend to split after a while and are not always available as a spares (again this problem is worse with cheaper models) Additional InformationWe have additional information on shower curtains and bath shower screens available:
