Contrast Joint
The following images show Ambiance fitted (a) floor to ceiling and (b) with staggered joints (click the image for a larger view). We only sell panels suitable for installation method (a). To achieve the staggered or brickwork effect Ambiance employs an end joint with a separate strip that slots into a groove cut in the end of the panel. This end joint (shown below) is not waterproof which is why we do not recommend this option in bathrooms. The staggered method is slightly trickier to achieve than standard installation - we would recommend a degree of experience in fitting wall panelling before tackling this type of job. Measuring and estimating is also much more complicated as the position of the cuts, length of the panels and direction of the run all have to be taken into consideration. The following diagrams illustrate the installation method used for the staggered effect (click images to enlarge). The Allure panels also have a contrast colour joint but it is different to the Ambiance joint. Allure panels have a 2 plank effect with a v-groove joint. The recess of the joint has coloured strip which contrasts with the surface colour of the panel, the colour of the strip depends on which panel is chosen.
