shower wall cladding
Showers can be a real problem area when it comes to cleaning - grout has a terrible habit of harbouring mould - and once it establishes itself it is very difficult to eradicate.
One answer is to install shower wall cladding in place of tiles. These waterproof upvc panels slot together to give a waterproof surface without the need for grout.
They can be used in open wet room walls or inside shower cubicles.. It is possible to fit the cladding inside a shower cubicle without removing the existing tiles or dismantling the enclosure itself - although there are a few things you need to look out for:
- keep in mind that the panels are 8 - 10m thick
- ensure there is enough "play" in supply pipes to recessed shower valves
- seal the shower tray to the wall before installing the cladding
- seal the panels to the shower tray after installing them
- neat cutting is essential to avoid gaps
- seal inside the joints if using a power shower (just in case)
You would not usually install wooden panels inside a cubicle but because our shower cladding is made from upvc it is totally waterproof and will not rot, so our wood finishes are perfectly suitable for installing on the wall of a cubicle. And it can be run around the rest of the walls as well, to provide you with a maintenance-free room.
